InformationThe Service Models Web Platform Installer Gallery has been updated to include a number of samples which are compatible with the RTM versions of the Windows Azure Pack (Gallery Resources) and System Center 2012 R2 (SCVMM Service Templates).

While this article will provide a brief overview of setting up the feed and downloading items, you can find more detailed coverage via a video that walks through setting up the feed in the Web Platform Installer client, downloading a couple sample items and finally importing the items into the Windows Azure Pack VM Clouds Gallery and System Center 2012 R2 in a more detailed fashion. The video is available at http://youtu.be/eAvOUNqqYfc.

To get started, download and run the Web Platform Installer and click the Options link at the bottom of the UI. In the change options page, add the Service Models custom feed, which is located at http://www.microsoft.com/web/webpi/partners/servicemodels.xml. Click the Add feed button and then click the OK button:

Once that’s done, you’ll have a new Service Models tab available in the top navigation bar:

Simply click the Service Models tab and you’ll see a number of Gallery Resources and VMM 2012 Service Templates which can be downloaded and imported to the appropriate systems. While the default view will display all resources, you can use the left navigation pane to scope the view to either SCVMM Service Templates or Windows Azure Pack Gallery Resources:

Click the Add button next to each sample you would like to download and then click the Install button. You’ll be prompted to accept license terms for the items you’ve selected and will need to click the I Accept button to initiate the download.

Once the download completes, you’ll be told where to find the extracted packages on your system:

After clicking the Continue button, an Explorer window will open for each package which was downloaded. Each download will contain the artifacts to be imported as well as a Read Me file with instructions specific to the particular package. Note that some items will require you to download external payload prior to importing the package, so make sure to check the Read Me files prior to import.

Enjoy!
